First-ever photo of a supernova from the very beginning

On the 20th of September 2017, amateur astronomer Victor Buso accidentally took the first-ever photo of a supernova flash at the very beginning of an explosion of this type. Luckily, Victor tested his telescope by observing the NGC 613 galaxy. However, it took some time to understand what had just been recorded and the information about this discovery was not made public until 22nd February 2018.

After that, a scientific paper was published, available in the Nature journal: https://www.nature.com/articles/nature25151
